    Hey guys,

I'm happy with my Alienware M11x R2 but I have some cooling problems. I don't know why but if I start my Alienware my GPU start with ~40C... okay, that's fine but after few min. it's gonna be to around 65-75C without any games. If I try to play a game, like StarCraft 2... the game will be stuck sometimes and my temp goes 80 and more. The first time if I get my Alienware StarCraft 2 runs perfectly without any lags or stucks. I'm not sure but I thinking to renew the cooling paste on my GPU... maybe a better one.

What do you think about this idea? because I don't wanna use a cooling pad or other external stuff...

If someone have a better idea... please let me know ;-)

    BR,
    Patrick

Your GPU temperatures are just fine the way they are. If your CPU temperatures are 80+ then definitely invest in a cooling pad.

okay, that sounds good... but do you have a idea why is StarCraft 2 laggin'? (btw. I try many ways) strange is... Crysis 2 works perfectly on my Alienware... with 30-35fps :-(

Turn off shadows/shaders, set them to low. There is also a Starcraft 2 Optimization Thread

Tell me what your average FPS is in SC2 after you've tweaked it.

    Hi Patrick,

I find your temps perfectly normal.
If you want a comparison, these are my M17x r2 gpu temps while playing Dirt 2.

I hope this clears off your worries, enjoy your system to the max, and have a nice day!

65-75C without games is NOT good. it should not be idling that hot. you need more thermal paste, or better thermal paste, dell does a crappy job applying it.

Your non-gaming temps are absolutely horrible, anyone who said they are fine obviously did not pay attention to your post.
I get around 65 to 70 while gaming, you are definitely overheating.
