I just tried to launch COD Modern Warfare through Steam and all I get is a black screen?

I can hear the game and the intro but no image.

Is this an M11x issue or something different?

Oh yeh, I'm running drivers 260.99.

Portal (the only other game I have installed) works fine.

The issue you're having is an anti-aliasing problem. Just go to your NVIDIA control panel and change the AA settings to something other than 4x and it should resolve the problem.

On an unrelated note, when playing games such as CoD or any other FPS and using the touchpad, is it almost unplayable? Can you not use WASD and the touchpad at the same time or something?

Im usually using a mouse, but often find myself without it.

edit: im using the latest synaptics drivers.

Who uses the touchpad to play FPS? It wasn't really designed for that purpose hence why the performance would be bad.

Could be some kind of setting to limit unwanted touchpad input while tying. Just a guess though...you could try looking through settings to see if there's anything that sounds like that.

When I'm playing GTA I normally don't need to plug my mouse in, or for Starcraft 2 it really helps to just use the keyboard to get my APM up but for games like Call of Duty I wouldn't DARE to use the touchpad, I always have a mouse handy for FPS games, especially one with no mouse acceleration.

As for the black screen issue. Try OC or try turning ALL OC off if you had on. (by the way, go back to the Dell recommended drivers '257.xx' none of these new drivers '260.xx' have great support for the optimus feature. Ull get best results with the dell driver (accept for punkbuster games)

you sure ? but people say 260.99 is the most stabile driver so far, and I agreed completely. Lets try with shutdown my overclock first. I will let you know after it. many thanks for your reply.... :)

I had the same problem when I first tried to play. If you're running the game through steam then try running the game in safemode which should allow you to see the game and change the settings.
