I just ask because the AW site (dell) seem to indicate it's the same machine, but using the C2D procs instead of the i5/i7. So, if I order a CTO C2D machine will it be an "r2" with the core2 proc or will it be an "r1" (no optimus, vga port, etc.) that they still happen to be shipping?

Thanks for that. It makes sense, and the more I think about it the R1 does seem a fine machine if you can get the right price.

Nice to hear and that's what I'm thinking. Well I'm supposed to pick up this afternoon so I'll update when I get it. With any luck it'll be game on later today.

Just to finish up the thread: got the m11x and it's very impressive. Made my recovery media (how the heck you recover from the HDD I can't figure out yet), and changed up my color scheme. Very nice machine IMO; certainly the best 11-incher out there, period. Nice to see a great forum like this as well.

You go to Maintenance in the start menu and you can back up files or an entire image of your PC.
