I was wondering if the m11x was due for an upgrade, and if we would most likely see this by june (although I would only want to buy it at bestbuy). I was also curious how I could save money on my purchase, the 899.99 config at besbuy seems the best. And if there is an expected price drop soon?

There's $100 off coupon right now (the post fell to the 2nd page). I can't predict what the discounts will be and what will happen in June, though. :) It doesn't take that long to get it now even if you're ordering from Dell... Then there's *the* haggling thread by DR650SE. There's also 3% off DPA if you're buying through Dell.

Don't support Best Buy's evil practices by buying there. Too much trouble and they aren't the best to get it from, especially if you can get it straight from dell. Unreal is right, work with dell and get some $$ off the price. When I did, they were able to give me a bit over 10% off and free shipping when I called them up. The guy was cool tool, we shot the breeze while he was doing his thing.

Nothing against the people that work at Best Buy, just their company and policies suck. Since Circuit City when out of business, they pretty much own the market in some areas on consumer electronics. Too many bad experiences with them for me to ever spend more money other than purchasing a game or something from them.

Alright too recap. I sign up for basic a email newsletter and get $100 off two upgrades (I really only want the ram, the cpu upgrade is overpriced because its included in the best buy price) but I suppose I will take a 250GB upgrade. So that brings the price back to $800 in my cart it says shipping is $8 lol, so I dont really care about that. I guess now I would have to factor in a heavy tax rate :( so $866.00. I don't think delll would offer me anything if I am already using the $100 upgrade off deal. So I can't really afford a full blown $750+ secondary machine right now. Unless:

Does dell offer interest free/payment free financing for 6 months? Because then I am getting some college loan money I could use for this...

When I called, they offered me 12 months, no interest. If you go over 12 months though, they hit you with a high interest rate though.

If you buy it from Best Buy you get 18 months no interest. Also depending on the sales person you may be able to get them to reduce the price a bit or throw in some free items. I got them to knock off $50 on the price of the machine and also got them to throw in a free Pioneer external DVD burner.

I'm in the market for a M11 also. I have a BestBuy and a Microcenter both selling this unit in my area (Northern NJ) The main difference is BestBuy sells for $899, and Microcenter sells essentially the same config plus the Bluetooth option for $1079. I agree BestBuy is evil and would rather purchase from Microcenter, but I don't know if they would price match. Anyone know any other major retailers are carrying this?

Honestly if you push enough you can get as good of a deal at best buy. I mean if you wanna configure go dell of course. In terms of price drops, I work for best buy (company is evil yes but as a college job it's great...for now) and know that the laptop will not be on sale anytime soon. Plus it's already deleted from our inventory system as well as it is in limited quantities all over the U.S.
