    Hi everyone,

I've been keeping up with this forums regularly, but this is the 1st time I've made an account.. so greetings :]

    My question is this:

I plan on buying the m11x with the 320gb 5400rpm, so that I can buy the intel x25 160gb ssd separately to install.

1.) Does replacing the stock HDD with my SSD void any warranty? Cuz I'm buying the 1-year basic plan :D lol

2.) Is it hard to replace the hdd with the ssd? I thought only the memory was able to be replaced on this particular model... do I have to break this thing open with a hammer?

3.) Can I attach an external cd drive into the usb port to boot from the recovery disc supplied?

Thanks a lot you guys! <3

    1. NO, doesn't void warranty. just understand the new SSD is not warrantied by alienware. Also if the SSD causes an issue then alienware is not responsible for any downstream issues caused by the SSD.
    2. No... the alienware/dell website has schematics on how to take apart the m11x. Is also shows how to replace parts.
    3. Yes, you can load windows 7 from either external usb drive or external usb cd-rom. IF you search within these forums there are many threads on how to install Windows 7 from either.

    Congrats on your purchase.
