I just received my R2 days ago.

When I just placed it side by side with a Toshiba T135 13" its clear that my R2 has a blue'ish tint.

Its also a tad, maybe 13%, dimmer.

Is this common and if so does Dell have a record of fixing it ?

Honestly I feel a little depressed about this right now. I really like everything else about my R2 buy this would have been a deal breaker had I known this up front.

Unfortunately I bought new from a ebay reseller that does do returns.

More accurately my friend bought it and I just bought it from him unopened.

This just means that you got a free anti-glare screen! Dell sells them for 30 dollars. You can take it off and send to me if you don't want it :)

Yeah I have no idea what raginazn was talking about either. Basically most LED screens have this blue tint, some more severe than others. You should use the Nvidia color control center to readjust it (move the slider for blue down by 10 or 20 should be good).

Check to see if you have the AUO pane as it has a heavy blue cast. If you do then see the calibrated ICC profile link in my sig for potential fix.

You can also try the calibrate display wizard that comes with Windows 7.

In a general sense, the m11x has a poor display. It's a fact of life for m11x owners, but there are a few ways that you can improve it's quality. Don't lose hope just yet!

Just fyi, a blue tint is common for m11x's that employ the AU lcd. I suspect that when you check which panel you have (which you absolutely must do to improve quality), you will find you have an Au panel, rather then Samsung or Lg. This is a good thing.

If you have the au panel, simply load the icc file from slickie88's sig to calibrate your display.

If you have a different panel you will need to spend some time calibrating your display manually.

It's frustrating that dell cheaped out on one of the most significant aspects to an end users enjoyment ala display, but it's a theme all to common. It seems that it is finally changing though.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I went to bed depressed a little and woke up thinking that even if I could I would not return this machine due to the display because its so awesome in so many other ways.

After reading your reply's I am now downright encouraged.

How do I determine the display type ? I haope its AOU. Fingers crossed.
I went to device manager and saw "Generic" under monitor.
