Hello, thanks for any thoughts regarding this problem.
I have used the standard power cable that came with my M11xR1 since I got it with no problems. About 2 months ago it started alerting me when the PC boots up that the AC is not compatible and charging may not occur. It is the same cord I've ALWAYS used without problems.
To make this more interesting, abput 5% of the time I do turn it on, it Does indeed charge.

Either way how it is right now makes it impossible to take anywhere on battery mode. And yes the fn battery key is engaged. I just don't get it! And I'm way out of warranty.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks so much!

Try the trick Dell support had me use

    shut down computer
    remove bottom panel
    unplug battery & remove
    unplug AC adapter
Hold power button down for 2 minutes, then let go
    replace battery
    replace bottom cover
plug in AC adapter and reboot.

Do I do this while the PC is plugged into the AC, but the AC is not plugged into the wall?
Or unattach the AC from the laptop completely?

    Thanks!

    Nope, this did not work......

I should add that when I unplug it, then plug it back in, it will say for a brief minute that it is charging, then it says it isn't. I don't know what to do......!
    Anything is greatly appreciated!

Start by getting a new power supply. GO onto ebay, you can get them pretty cheap.

If that doesnt solve the problem then I would move on to replacing the battery.
