What drivers are you using? What is your m11x specs (r1/r2)? Overclocked cpu and using throttlestop? Overclocked gpu?

probably R1, and dips to 25-30 on SC2 is normal especially on medium, i have everything on lowest possible with R2 overclocked 164fsb with TS on and still get dips to 35ish in just 1v1 against 200/200 food battles.

well that driver is the only one for the r1. It has a weaker cpu then the r2. Just figure out the right settings and lower your cpu usage. Sc2 should struggle WoW even struggles when highly populated areas.

Are you overclocked in the bios? I don't hear much complaints about the r1 not being able to play games...

Assuming you have the core2duo, when you boot up your computer press f12 i think? and find the option that says overclock - disabled and change it to enabled. You'll get an extra 300mhz of processor power. At least its something.

correction...you have to press F2 whenever you turn on the laptop and the alien face shows up......then you gotta go to advance and enable the overclock option.

you should run those games in mid settings...

Yeah I do have to say that while reading this site about the m11x the hype does set the expectations a bit high.

Okay, from someone who just owns an R1 (SU7300) these are good game machines for medium gaming; they are NOT desktop replacements, nor will they hold their own against their big brothers the M15x and M17x, but in their class for cost they beat everything else handily and have a good warranty support as well.

That being said, you pretty much have to go into the BIOS, find the little overclock setting, and overclock your system. There are YouTube videos on how to do this, and it is in your manual, not to mention Alienware support will help you out on this, you don't have to be that technical to do it...

If you have any doubt about gaming, note that routinely people run demanding games on an R1 not to mention an R2 and have a ball, but don't go in expecting to set everything to max settings, that is just unrealistic.

You MUST overclock the R1/R2 using the BIOS as a minimum though to get the real use out of these...

dude i play Need for Speed Hot pursit 2010 not OC on high settings same thing with Starcraft II and Street fighter and moderware fare 2
and section 8 i'v play like most games that are out there on the R1
the only 2 games that wanted the OC to play smoothly is the Bad company 2 And Black Ops thats about it those 2 games need the OC
other than i play everygame on high no lag no fail no anything

For primarily GPU bound games, that is very believable. My point only was that to get the most out of them, you would want to overclock. If you don't need to all the better...

    For the R1
What the hell. I run heroic World of Warcraft instances at level 85 with this thing and it spits out 60 fps nearly 90 percent of the time with the overclock enabled in the bios(necessary) and running the nvidia card. You are likely running the chip at 1.3ghz and the intel graphics card if you are not able to play these games at higher settings.

These 2 things make night and day difference. You aren't doing it right. Savvy?

I play wow on medium or better settings (view distance at ultra) and see zero lag. Havent tried SC2 yet on this rig (too busy), but honestly expecting to max a cpu intensive game on a CULV CPU is asinine. The fact that the rig is so small and can play those games at playable rates is the magnificence of this computer. Please tell me where you will find a computer of its size that games as well and can get 8+ hours of battery life for the price you paid. Ill wait.
