BF Bad Company 2 problem

Hey I just downloaded Battlefield bad company 2 off of steam. First when I click play now it doesnt find a game and when I look at the servers there are non. I just search servers in North America and a bunch poped up so I was finally able to play online I get booted after playing for a brief period. the reason "restriction multiple direct3d loaded". I've searched around and people are saying something about the Nvidia drivier or something So does anyone no what to do?? I want to play online as that was one of the main reason I bought it but cant.

Welcome to the Forums. Yeah. Don't think there's any solution to that error. It is because the optimus technology.

 

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Do you no if there will be a patch or update by either nvidia or bf? If i would have known this I wouldnt have wasted my money.

 

I just got done playing bc2 for the first time on my new m11x R2. And it worked for the last two hours no issues at all. Stock drivers of course.

What you may want to try is uninstall the game and re-install.

 

The only solution to the Punk Buster "multiple direct 3d" problem is to use the 189.69 drivers.

 

How do I properly rollback the driver to 189.69? Is it worth it or should I wait for a fix? I dont wanna do it and the come across more issues but if all will run fine then i'll do it. I'll just wait for mafia 2 before updating the driver again

 

I raised this issue with punkbuster but the trail seems to have gone cold, I suggest some other people go here and lodge the issue too. Maybe they'll write a fix. Maybe.

Punk buster has always been this way, behind the times and they do not care about their customers (us) at all. The battlefield series is great (minus BC2) but punkbuster has always been their downfall.

 

Ya I sent a "ticket" or whatever punkbuster calls it to them hopefully they fix this, its so stupid. If I downgrade to the driver that works is it easy to upgrade back to the newest?

 

it should be the same process except the modded inf otherwise it will just be time consuming but fairly easy to do

 

I hope i won't get any problems with BFBC2, because it's one of my main games on my PC Desktop.

 

What is punkbuster looking for within the driver itself? If it's just a version check ,why doesn't nautis just change the version number of 258.96 and give it a whirl?

NAUTIS - How difficult is this and is it worth the time for the BFBC2 folks? The newer drivers do make a big difference.

It has something to do with the daemon within the driver. Like an API hook that allow the GT335M to overlay itself running on top of the Intel. Lately I have been running a couple of experiment. But nothing big to brag about thou. But I am quite sure Nvidia have made some changes in how their Daemon works in order to allow games to detect it. But the changes is just not very friendly with those Anti Cheat like PB, NProtect and other similar related programs. They simply take it as a hack and throw you out of the game thou you are not doing anything non legit. Not sure who is to blame for this. Could be Nvidia but problem is stuffs like PB and NProtect they need to update themselves with these new techs too. Apparently like some said in the thread they just dont care about their customers. If you guys remember one of the old thread where Nautis posted the driver feedback for Nvidia. imo it might not be a bad idea to reflect this matter to Nvidia. They prolly able to do something about it at least better than us consumers trying to approach. As for now am gonna continue to test certain things out to see what we can do. Hope Nautis can come up with some idea too.

 

Kopicha- IS the driver helper that runs in the process window what you are talking about when you daemon? If so is it not just reporting the version and settings? Again is it worth Nautis changing version 258.96 to the older one and see if it resolves the issue? (Sorry Nautis, not throwing you under the bus here.. just asking if it is plausible that it will resolve the issue).. (It's the manager in me here...)

welcome to my hell. None of the drivers fixed this , nothing ive found fixes it , i just play on the cheater servers (X out the punkbuster box) . I have a feeling its as much an optimus issue as a punkbuster one. Punkbuster doesnt give a , ive done thier support stuff and eventually they just stopped replying.

awesome , didnt see that yet , i hope they fix this with the newer drivers soon however, as they run a good % faster.

 

Im gonna try the old driver soon hopefully it works, I just wish I would have known this before getting the game i would have bought it after a fix was out.

 

honestly some times new doesnt necessary mean good or better. especially given that usually newer drivers are usually optimize more towards those newer hardware releases. if you do follow closely on drivers for cards in the past you will notice that ppl often attempt to find a specific "best" driver for the hardware they have and usually stick with it for a long time and wont change unless absolutely necessary due to certain reason.

 

yeah but the 258.96 was without a doubt faster in most games i played on it
