Thinking of getting and i would like to know how they Perform with FPS which is the only thing i play. Hate WASD for movement and analog stick/joystick i think feels much better for movement so anybody with experince with these gadgets please ur feedback is appreciated.

I tend to stay away from specialized gaming controllers, and tend to stick to plain vanilla mouse + keyboard.

The reason is that once you start using these specialized controllers, you become dependent on them. You "forget" how to play using any other method, like standard mouse + keyboard. If you ever use someone else's computer, or switch computers, or play in any other situation where you do not have your specialized controller + controller software + settings, then you will feel like your playing ability is seriously hobbled.

Because of that, I tend to stay away from them. That means I can play on mouse + keyboard using any computer, of any make/model, anywhere in the world.

What do you hate about WASD? Is it the position / ergonomics that you are forced to hold your hand over the keyboard? Or do you hate the feel / keystroke motion of your current keyboard?

I used to have a nostromo, and I used it A LOT. Once I configured it the way I liked it, it was hard to go back to a regular keyboard. Of course the main advantage was the ability to make what seemed to be a limitless number of customized key-bindings - awesome for RTS' and MMOs.

Utterly useless for FPS' though - WASD + mouse is really the only way to play (I found the nost more comfortable than a regular keyboard, so just configured a WASD setup on it, but apart from that, the nost is overkill for an FPS).

This is both a good thing and a bad thing. I never want to be so dependent on a specific game controller, that I can no longer use the standard mouse + keyboard. I did that once, and hated it.

If you do decide to stick with WASD on a keyboard, then I would recommend getting a keyboard that is a good KEYboard. Too many "gaming" keyboards focus on things like colored LED's, macros, LCD displays, cross-branding, etc. They ignore the fact that a keyboard should have good keys. The end result is that you pay $100 for a "gaming" keyboard that has the same crappy keystroke motion as a $5 keyboard.

If someone is looking for an upgrade to their keyboard, I always recommend that they get a keyboard that uses mechanical switches. Having a keyboard that is a good KEYboard is FAR FAR superior to any colored LED, programmable macro, or LCD display that you'll ever find.

I have the Nostromo primarily for LANs with my M11x.

It's great for saving space; it's a lot easier to pack than a full keyboard and it's a simpler desk layout with an external monitor.

Of course. I use the WASD buttons in the middle of the pad, and use the thumb joystick for vehicles in games like BC2 and UT. I have an alternate profile that uses the D pad as 1234 for weapon selection.

Kool kool, ill probably be picking up the nostromo this weekend at bestbuy. i cant stand the m11x keyboard and i usually game on the go at my job or in between classes in college so this little pad might do wonders for me. thanks for the input.... quick question though, i was kinda hoping to use the thumbstick for movement instead of WASD as i think i might be more comftarble that way. is it possible to set up the thumbstick to control movement in FPS like BFBC2??? Vietnam!!

Yep that'll work. Make sure you update to firmware 1.04 and disable the diagonal D-pad bindings, then bind the directions to WASD.

Thanks a bunch buddy. Hopefully this little thing will help my K/D ratio in BFBC2 cuz these little m11x keys keep getting me shot. Thanks again
