Updated my R3 to this driver yesterday to get a game to recognise Optimus and allow settings to be changed in the launcher. Today, when not playing the game, just light surfing and music, got a BSOD and I cannot see the Nvidia GPU anymore in device manager, etc. and so unable to roll back to my previous driver, even in safe mode, and cannot install the Nvidia driver as it cannot detect an Nvidia GPU.

Anyone had this happen and managed to fix it?

Update: after a couple of hours off, the GPU is back on its original driver. No idea how this happened but all good. Until I update the driver again!!

Hello Irishsumo, here's an article from the Dell support site that explains the correct process to follow when reinstalling video drivers on a system with Optimus technology. Check it out before you update you video drivers.

Thanks for the prompt reply Alex - any idea when the newer Nvidia drivers will become available on the official Dell download list? The latest one on the Dell site is the 285.62 beta, whereas the Nvidia site has newer drivers, both stable and beta.

Our engineering department is working on that, but we still don't have an ETA for the new nVidia drivers to be available on the Dell support site.

After installing 301.42 on my R3, my fps on BF3 on medium settings went from 35 to about 9. Rolled back to 296.10 and it works perfectly again. Don't think I will try it again.

I saw that on quite a few comments in the Nvidia forum - apparently the trick is to not install the 3D driver.
