i was looking through all of the reviews and they are all testing an m11x r3 with a i7-2657M, 1.6GHz up to 2.7GHz, i was wondering if anyone has heard of that cpu option becoming available anytime soon?

The upgrade cost will probably be between $100-200 bucks for a mere 100mhz increase on stock and turbo boost clock speed.

Is this really exciting for you and motivates you to wait because in my opinion only suckers will fall for that upgrade. (same thing with the m14x gt 555m 3gb $100 upgrade).

Who knows when it's released. For all we know the 2657M could succeed the 2617M at the same cost some point in the future. I'm sure "suckers" will buy it though- they fell for the SU7300 and the Core i7 640UM previously because it's faster.
We can only comment on what is shown to us right now- that is it is only featured in the review machines. Perhaps Dell is trying to bias the reviews?

Try requesting the 2657M CPU option over a telephone order- the R2 680UM was a request only feature also which no one knew about.

This sucker was aware that the SU7300 supported Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x), whereas the SU4100 didn't. I use VM a lot.

Mind you, it is debatable whether 1MB of cache actually makes any difference.

In some countries (NZ) you don't get the same build options.

You're even forced to buy 15months of Mcfee with the new models.

Dell NZ would probably remove any choice of i7 processor in favour of the more expensive, if a new option became available. This is based on past build options. Shotgun selling.
