    Hi Guys,

My alienware m11x r2 core i3 330um motherboad failed on me. I am on a budget and i just need for my laptop to work again. The cheapest replacement that I can buy online right now is the r2 u5400 pentium motherboard. Now I know some of you might be wondering why I'm opting to use a weaker processor, I just need to get it work so my gf can use it for weak processing tasks (movies, ms office, etc.) asap.

My questions is will this setup work?

looking forward to your help guys.

I don't see why it wouldn't. The motherboards are the exact same except for the processor.

The difference between those two processors is not that significant, so it's not like the i3 will offer double the performance of the pentium. Look at cpubenchmark.com. The pentium scores 870 points, and the i3 scores 1096. Not a significant difference in cpu performance.
