    Hey guys,

I'm wondering whether clicking hinge means that the hinge eventually is going to break. I just had my alienware m11x r2 replaced a few days ago and I realized that I can hear really really soft click when I open or close laptop.

There are just too many posts about hinge that I just decided to post a short quick thread =)

By the way, I realized that my new m11x r2 is a bit warm.
GPU temperature is around 51~55C on idle and 47~53C for Intel i7 Core #0 Core #2. Is this normal?

    Any experienced people pls?

For me it started as a soft/quiet clicking sound about a month or two after I received it. Now, it has been around seven months, and it sounds like I am trying to pry the damn thing open with a screw driver. From my experience it seems inevitable.

    Well,

I just received my m11x r2 today, and the hinges are silent.... Is there anything you can do from the start to prevent them from dying?

I'm about 3/4 months in to my R2, I get a single click on occasion but as long as I put equal pressure on both hinges it doesn't come up much.

To reply to Batstone's question I haven't heard of any sure fire method to avoid the hinge breakage that doesn't involve voiding the warranty.

If the Hinge is making slight noises I would be cautious, like a poster said before, if u apply pressure to bother siddes of the lid the chances can be reduced of hinge problems.

I'm almost in a full year and Still no noise or Hinge problem, and its weird because I didn't do anything special but I do use 2 hands when closing the lid!!

Well let us know what happens!

As for your temps, my GPu idles at around 50-51 I mean its normal, after all it is a laptop :) same goes for ur CPu, considering how few fans the netbook has to begin with I'm surprised we're seeing temps in the 50s :) My CPU hovers around the same temps as urs and mine is the SU7300, so ur fine!

Contact AW Support and report this - have them replace the display again. Its under warranty, might as well take advantage of it.

Further hinge related posts belong in the hinge thread. The 11x sub-forum is very active - we do not need multiple threads on the same topic.
