A friend of mine has a m11 r2 4gb ram i7 he wants to sell me for 400. Is this a good deal or should I pass?
-
YES!Some sell their R1 at that price, just make sure the battery isn't totally wasted or you'll be spending 100$-170$ ,also ask if it has warranty.
-
Even with a dead battery it sounds like a good deal to me.
-
Yeah, I'd be curious to know what's wrong with this laptop. 400 dollars sounds too good to be true.
-
He's upgrading and said rather than put it on eBay for 600 I could buy it for 4. I work with him so it's legit, just never bought an Alienware or gaming laptop for that matter. Figured I would ask here since you guys (and girls) know more about them than I do.
-
Ah ok well go for it then!

Make sure the screen hinge has been repaired, and/or the warranty is transferred so you can get it done. Those things are a PITA.
-
Unless Dell has changed its stance, the hinges are covered out of warranty. And yes, that's an awesome deal.
-
Absolutely. I got my r1 in may for 600, you got off easy!
-
Agreed. I got my R3 i5 for around 800 w/ tax and shipping w/ a coupon. So if you want ~20% more performance and unused that gives you an idea of a price point. If you're going for an older used model I'd say that's a great deal though.

Just sold my M11x R2 with an i5 in it for $710 shipped on ebay. that is absolutely a great deal!!! Buy and resale if you want to!!
-
replacement battery is like what...30~50 dollars?
Very good deal considering the r2 versions have the sandybridge processors which is almost night and day compared to the old weak ULV core 2 processors in the r1.
Thats actually a good deal you got there. -
