    Alienware M11xR2 crashing COD MW2

    My alienware M11x R2 i7 8 gig of ram win 7 home premium 64 bit 500gig. Everytime i start call of duty modern warfare 2 my computer crashes and restarts.has anybody got theirs working or have this problems or have a quick fix or suggestions on how to walkaround or a patch for this issue any suggestions would be a world of good have tried and looked for a solution but nothing yet.Thanks

    I didn't have to do any tweaking at all to get both the MP and SP of MW2 running. Have you tweaked your whitelist? You have to change both the launch location and the root .exe in the steam folder.

    Um I don't own a m11x but when something like that would happen to my computer I consider the folowing things:

    - Is my gpu overheating? To check this, download gpu-z and run it while you play your game (and make it save the file automaticly). Since the m11x has a good cooling design i'd doubt it would be due to faulty cooling (but you never know).

    - Or...you just need a bios update AND/OR update your gpu driver aswell.

    - If those things didn't work, i'd expect the problem to lie in the gpu itself.

    It plays all games black ops fallout vegas everything i can throw at it.But this particular game played well in my m11 x first version the second revision is faster and mw2 just shuts the computer down and and restarts i have envidia,Dell steam infinity ward involved they mention Direct X detects the crappy intel card not the nvidia card but seems DanGRclose has got it working on his but I can't explain this one but you never know we'll see about the whitelist thing.

    1. make sure you hvae the latest nvidia verde drivers installed (260.99 at present, but a new version is being released very soon so keep your eyes open for it)

    2. open nvidia control panel: 3d settings > manage 3d settings > program settings > add mw2 exe to "1. select a program to customise" > then select nvidia card for "2. select preferred graphics processor for this program".

    3. Try running game again.

    Tried it and nothing still crashing this is wierd I'll have to will try reinstalling the o/s we'll see what happens then.at least we can discard any problems with the o/s.

    Also 260.99 drivers when i install I can't play black ops I get sound but no video so had to go back to old dell drivers.

    Robert- you have to disable anti-aliasing in the nvidia control panel to be able to play on 260.99 drivers.

    Did the whitelist and reinstalled O/S and still shuting down they tell me directx is only seeing the intel video card and crashes because its too much to handle thats crap make a patch infinity ward black ops works along other games when i get the splash screen MW2 immediate shutdown and restart man i'm stumpped on this one please help with a solution to this Moby funny how it works on the first m11x when i hit DXDiag i see intel never the nvidia is there something fishy there.Also on in the core duo m11 it switches with the f6 key the you can see the nvdia and switch to the intel chip and see it in dxdiag not in optimus

    Well guys first off I just want to thank all of you that posted a suggestion,for helping me try to fix my issue.Well after spending 3 months figuring and searching finally I got my whale .I decided to try a stick of ram that i had spare of 4 gig and the game started .So i tried each stick individually of the 8 gigs 4 gigs at a time and it worked but when i put them togeter they didn't It seems the ram was good 4 gig at a time just not together at 8 gigs.Called the vender and they will replace the duece free of charge.Now this thing is smoking blazing fast .Well guys i'm gonna get back to Modern warfare 2 and Black ops This issue finally resolved is the best gift i got this year next to my alienware.Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.
