I just recently brought this laptop. It sweet. I did my research and reviews said that it is a good gaming laptop. The only problem is that there is no cd rom drive. My question is, what type of external cd rom drive should I get that is compatible with this computer and for gaming?

cheap, with MIR, and it doesn't need an external power brick (only needs USB power).
There is a slightly cheaper Polaroid, but I don't know as much about it.

The ASUS drive is sold at Target/Walmart (I don't recall which...), and Frys, too. -

That's crap. Get a DVD/CD one, not just CD. -

I picked up this one on sale for $30 and it works fine:
Newegg.com - Rosewill USB 2.0 Slim8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive for Mac and PC Model ROD-EX001 Black
The hardware is just a re-branded TEAC drive. -

I have the Samsung DVD burner. Its super slim, super quiet and works with just 1 USB (some require 2). Love it. Have burned dozens of dvd on it.
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 8X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 16X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Drive Model SE-S084F/RSBS -
can get external blu ray drives for under 80$ on ebay. Be a great add-on if you have a HD tv. Mine works greeat

I got the iomega drive offered by dell. Honestly whatever slim usb powered drive you want should work well, but I went with what they offered due to ease. So far the drive is working well. I have burned a few things and installed windows 3 times on the m11x just fine. All in all well worth the money.
Heres the drive I got. -
i want one that will work with games...like oblivion...
Gear Head 8X DVD Mobile Slim External Drive 8XDVDEXT will this work for that application?? -
why would a cd/dvd drive not work with a game? really? come one, how do you have a gaming laptop and not know this? wow..
Optical drives are compatible with any disc, regardless of if there is a game or application on it... -
