The hinge on my M11x has been busted for a while, but I was still using it as normally, just taking super extreme caution every time I opened/closed it. I had never known about the free repairs, as, when I initially contacted Dell several years back (when the problem was first starting) I was told that the hinge was my fault, and not Dell's (nice to see that they finally fessed up to the issue - although I was never contacted about it, so it took until I recently Google'ed to learn about this).

Recently, however, an extended family member, who didn't know about the computer's condition, opened it rather recklessly, and exacerbated the problem quite a bit. The laptop is extremely difficult to power on (I assume some cords connecting the power button, which is located on the hinge, got frayed or something), so I need to press the power button sometimes 30+ times for the computer to finally power-up. That is when I googled about the hinge problem, and finally learned that Dell is offering to replace bad hinges (finally).

However, because my laptop can't power on, I can't get the service tag, and the original number on the bottom of the laptop has completely rubbed off by now. I do, however, have the original order details, including original order number, date, customer number, etc. I emailed all these to Dell, as well as PM'ed to their facebook (just recently), but haven't gotten any response yet. Apparently my account on this forum is too new to use the PM feature, so I can't PM any of the Alienware reps on this site, but I definitely appreciate if Luis or any other rep can help me out.

I could help, all I need is your order number and details of the case sent to [email protected]. We'll take care of the issue from there. The Resolution Experts usually don't respond to these e-mails, they just set the appointments. So it might already be on it's way haha.
