So just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this, i was just on the phone for 2 hours 13 minutes and 23 seconds, to replace my fan which a DELL technician advised me to do, as well as the case of the notebook because its making a squeeky noise, So for the past 2 hours, they took control of my computer through some sort of assist program they make you download, and downloaded cpuz(the operator didn't even know how to click the download button and made some excuse about how her computer froze and told me to download the program.) took screenies and etc and told me to turn speed step off take apart my computer take the battery out, put it back in (repeat the process 5 times with different settings), ETC only to say in the end
" Sir we have never encountered such a problem before and we have to call you at a later time to examine this problem further"(word for word)
    To which i responded
"So your not going to replace my fan"?
    and to which they replied
"No, sir.(5 second silence) We Must Examine This Problem Further."

Thanks Dell/Alienware for wasting 2 hours 13 minutes and 23 seconds of my life.

What should i do, about this fan problem i have to get it fixed because it keeps making this crappy noise (made a video : YouTube - Alienware m11x fan scratching fan noise)
and Clearly they don't want to give me a replacement fan or a replacement for many of the other things. At this point i just want to Pay for my fan getting fixed so i can sell this notebook and get an LG x300, so does Anyone know how to fix the fan on the notebook or should i just re-call and hope for an operator that isn't a complete idiot and get it replaced?

Try recall them. This should not be your problem, and should still be under warranty.

Yeah - that fan is having issues. You have three options:

    1. Compressed Air blast to the fan intake - could just be a buildup of dust (doubtful)

    2. Call Support again and speak with a different rep - try later in the day as you will be routed to another call center. reference the youtube video - let them listen to it. Ask for a supervisor if necessary. Once they hear that fan, there is no reason not to dispatch a tech to replace the fan.

    3. Call Support and tell them you want to purchase a replacement fan - only do this if you have reached your wits end and have to have it replaced ASAP. Be aware that if you go this route and any damage is caused during the replacement, you may have a hard time obtaining further support.

ya im going to try compressed air because im way too cheezed... its unbelievable they spent 2hours hearing them telling me "sir its just the last step before we find out the problem and then il replace your fan, now just take out your battery."

if compressed air doesnt work im gonna call em again.. if it happens again then.. im just gonna never buy any product thats even remotely related to dell.

Please call support again and insist that they replace the fan. That absolutely should be covered under warranty. Apologies for the run around...

I wouldn't recommend trying to replace it yourself as it is difficult to get to and is part of the larger heat pipe assembly. Definitely not easy to replace...

Just wanted to post an update, I called Dell again and I actually got a US tech support for alienware and I was on the phone for about 20mins and he actually apologized for taking too long to take out the schimatics of the notebook and he knew exactly what he was doing and I followed bat's advice and showed the video he immediately got a replacement for both heatsink and fan(apparently there both connected) and the problem was resolved.

In fact he told me the person who wasted two hours of my life wrote on my account that I was not very fond with technology and further noted that I was complaining about the fan being on at 100% constantly when She clearly told me herself the fan was making noises for 2 hours stright. He apologized removed the note and placed my replacement for next day arrival and the tech will be here tommorrow to fix it (awesome)

btw Fabian was the tech supports name great guy knew Exactly what he was doing and il only call him for tech support from now on.
