Ok, I have used the slider to turn off facial recognition and even disabled the service as per another thread here but on boot up the camera is still active.

The user accounts are visible and there are no complaints when I login manually from the system. Normally if you have aliensense enabled and login manually the system will remind you no image was captured.

The odd thing is that if I open the application the slider is back to "on". I think this is related to the actual problem.... which is why I tried disabling the service. Set slider to "off" and apply has no error but isnt saved apparently unless opening the application sets status to "on".

I would rather not uninstall the application though, just want facial recognition gone for a short while.

    Figured it out.

If I used the slider and set Facial Recog to "off" and set apply it would look like it worked but then on next reboot it the FR window would be there on top of the accounts on the login page.

After disabling services etc as per post in forum the window would STILL be there but camera not active (first post wrong). WTH?

Turns out it was a simple solution for me. On the login page I clicked the Facial Recognition options link and disabled FR (tick box). So far it has given the results I wanted without uninstalling.

Well, if that doesn't work, you can always uninstall and later if you need, reinstall the Command Center again. It's not that big of a deal. I reinstalled it, then removed it again. :)

I forget what I did but I know I slid the slider all the way to the left, stopped the service, and prevented it from starting up on startup. I think that will remove the box on the login screen as well.

Glad that things are working out better for you now. It's worth noting that you should never need to manually manipulate a service. Simply setting AlienSense to "Off" (or it might be called "Disabled") should be sufficient.

Yup. That is what was so annoying about it... set to off and next time its on again. Off. Apply. bah.

What version of AlieSense are you running? I'm curious because once it's disabled it should stay that way. The Credential Provider (login screen) may continue to have a place for the video (not a functional issue at all, of course), but once it's off it should remain functionally off.

After disabling and rebooting, does it actually put itself back into Face Login or another security mode?

Offhand I dont recall but I did an update recently.

The odd thing was that YES the login screen had the video interface. Even after it no longer tried to do FR the window would be there. Go into FR settings and it would always be "on". Disabling in the FR settings from login page before login fixed it.

Try right clicking the "Alien Eye" icon in the system tray and choosing "About" for the exact version number.

When you say that it would return to being "on" after being disabled, what specific mode would it be in?

I wonder just as a theory with little to base it on if the manual changes that you were making to the various services were interfering with it's ability to disable itself as it normally would. Regardless, I'm glad that disabling from the credential provider (login screen) did the trick.

Not running the the tray anymore ;) Ver2.4.95

The slider was first. I only went to services when that wasnt getting the result. It would always go back to the first position.

Likely my issue was a one-off but what I bet many don't know is that there is an on/off tick box available in the FR settings at the login screen. I wasnt paying attention to login page or I might have tried sooner. NOW if I open CCenter and check aliensense it is disabled.
