Hey all. I'm a proud owner of a refurb r3. It looks and performs great for its size. Blah blah blah I love it. HOWEVER
Last night I left it on over night to download some steam games. When I turned it on this morning i noticed some very slight discoloration on the lighting under the escape, f1, and f2 keys. I have the lighting set to white for the keyboard but those keys have a slight reddish hue to them. Did my computer have some over heating issue overnight and did it somehow warp or change the color of the light?
Important note: last thing i did before the downloads was play bf3 and it did get quite hot i think. my room has cold ambient temps (basement room)

Not likely, try to check for moisture. Did you spill any colored drink?
If you think it's an issue, call Dell. Ask them for a replacement keyboard or have the tech clean the keys -
I would imagine its always been that way and you've just noticed it. My left vent light is slightly dull in comparison to the right vent. I'm assuming it's just the angle of a bulb or something and will eventually strip it to investigate but for now it'll have to stay dull!

No. No spills. I don't think its something I've overlooked. I'm one of those OCD laptop owners who notices everything. I think I will overlook it for now to see if it goes away eventually
Side question. I want to remove the "recovery" partition from my laptop. How do I go about doing that? I know how to reformat a partition and how to add it back to the older partition using windows. I just dont want to mess up a program or some software. Do i have to uninstall something first? -
Sadly mine does this also! Was the same on my first keyboard in the top left the colour only when it is white the top left appears a pinky colour but you cannot see it when it is a darker colour.
I have checked everything and the led is working fine and the keyboard is fine there must be something causing it to happen but I then stopped and thought what a waste of life caring about it was.
I digressed and went back to Starcraft 2 -
Common issue, it appears on my R1 also when set to white. I think it's just a gradual discoloration from use. If it's in warranty i'm sure they'll replace it, but if not just pick up a replacement off eBay if it's really bothering you that much.

As mentioned it happened on mine from new on the keyboard and when I had it replaced because of another fault it was exactly the same I think it is just a build issue when the colour is set to white as no other colours have a problem.

i have the same pink discolouration on that area of the kb from brand new. so its nothing to be concerned about.
