    Here's the scenario:

Usually I am using my M11x with all lights off except the logo and the wifi lights because I am under the impression it uses a lot of battery (also the AlienFX and Facial Recognition processes are off on startup by default through msconfig). If I turned all the lights on and made sure all the alienware processes are off would it be a battery hog? Do the lights take up minimal battery power? I miss having them on.

    -Thanks in advance

It will use battery no matter what, something has to be providing power for all those lights right? Can't be just thin air.

I also had this dilemma, you should have all of the Alienware processes killed off anyways, they're CPU usage hoggers in the first place. It depends on how you optimize your battery though, with the lights on dim and having wi-fi on, I can still have up to 5 hours of battery life while just doing casual surfing.

Haha yeah, I know there has to be power going to them. I was just wondering if it greatly impacted battery life like I know the screen does. When I hook it up to an external monitor I get an extra 15min to 45min of battery.

actually LED lights are the lowest wattage consumption light bulbs, this power it takes to actually light the keys is relatively inadmissible

I always use them, I can´t type without them now lol

About battery, I get with my m11x R2, 2:44 hours with max bright, all lights, online and just browsing or in the IM...

I dunno how much time I can get without AlienFX and lower bright...
