The Acer Aspire TimelineX 13" 3820tg seems FAR superior to this m11x..

Now for those who say "but its bigger cuz its 11" vs 13" !!!"

Note that the m11x has a HUGE chassis and large bezel for a 11.6" screen.

The 3820tg is thinner, lighter and has the same dimension front to back. It's only 1" wider.

It also has a superior battery life, better cpu (NON ULV) and superior dx11 graphics.

    It's also up to $500 cheaper than the i7 r2 m11x :)

Anyone feel that the m11x is no longer "king" of thin and light gaming notebooks ?

I am returning this m11x tomorrow. Gonna wait a bit to see if GPU refresh on m11x is true. Also, this will give time for the 3820tg's to be more available.

As crap as Dell support is, at least it's there. Personally I don't see the 3820 as much of an improvement to what I use right now. The screen isn't that much of an improvement, and I'd rather have an Envy than a Acer. I'd pass.

Hardware wise the 3820tg is pretty impressive considering it pretty much has the same configuration as the slightly bigger 4820tg with the core i5 and ATI 5650. Battery wise it actually seems pretty even with the M11x with the M11x probably shades it just a bit from what I've read.

My main concern is the quality of the build. Which kinda puts me off from getting a 4820tg before.(ironic, huh? considering the hinge issue with the M11x). Personally I'd prefer something like an Asus N82JQ if I were to go with something slightly bigger than the M11x.

Not to mention this model (3820TG) isn't even being sold in U.S. you have to buy it from someone who imports it. I wish Alienware would make the m11x with a Intel i5 430m instead of this ultra low bs. That acer gets just as good or better battery life than the m11x and it has a real processor in it. Not to mention a better GPU. Come on Dell!!!

Few more months and I'm sure there'll be something even better.

USB 3.0, expressCard, eSATA or Bluetooth 3.0 even.
    Bluetooth 3.0 24 Mbit/s compared to 3Mbit/s for Bluetooth 2.0

S/PDIF on the Acer is a nice touch though, Alienware, you writing this down.

3820TG Core i5 with AMD Mobile HD 5650 looks good on paper (5400RPM HDD questionable), but my M11xR1 with IEEE 1394 and DisplayPort should see me though a few more years yet. :D

Why can't Alienware put a = GPU and CPU in the m11x like that Acer? I don't get it. Especially if the Acer has better battery life and really isn't bigger. This is why I decided on getting the r1 for cheaper to play around with until new stuff comes out in the next 3-4 months. I want something like the m11x with a 12-13inch screen that can play the new cool games like BC2 at med-high graphics and have ok battery life. I know the hardware is out there. Especially for the start of next year with the sandy bridge cpu's
