A couple questions. sorry if I seem like a noob. But I want to buy an external drive to upload disks and whatnot to my future m11x. Do basically any kinds work the same with every laptop? Eg; do I have to get a specific kind to work the best way on the m11x. Also, if anyone has any recommendations of their own external optical drives (or ones they've heard of) I would like to know =)

    Thanks

LITE-ON 8X DVD+R USB Black 8X External Top Load DVD/CD Burner Model eTAU208-96 LightScribe Support

This comes with a short usb cable which fits in a slot under the drive - very slick so when traveling I don't have to worry about taking a cable for my Passport USB drive since this works for that...heck, the short cable would work with my Zaurus pda and my mp3 player too. Works with Windows 7 perfectly.
I happened to find it for $39.99 with free shipping.
Be sure you get the model #eZTAU208-96 if you want the Light Scribe.
    It comes in white too.
Edit: It came with a Linux driver disk and I successfully installed the drivers and got it to work on my Linux Asus EEE PC.

The Samsung External DVD Writer linked by BrotherGA2 works perfectly for me, I'd definitely recommend it to any M11x user.

I'm using the Dell branded one. No complaints.
