I'm going to buy one from the US but have a couple of question I need a little help with.

1)The keyboard, I thought all English Keyboards on Netbooks were the same (i.e. US) is this correct?

2)The warranty, if I go for a bog standard 1 year warranty can this be transferred to the UK if there are any issues?

3)The power supply. Is it a two part power brick? i.e. can I swap out the US cord for a UK one and plug in to the power block. Would someone be kind enough to take a pic of the connection?

Thanks in advance for any help. :D

Its a brand new laptop from the US so i'll be the first owner.

Is the US M11X r2 Keyboard:
    United States keyboard layout
    or
    US International keyboard layout

    I hope its the latter!!

    Cheers

I can change it in the software yes but the actual hardware will still not show the "£" so could be confusing for people who dont know where it is by memory.

I'm looking into transparent keyboard stickers to go on the "4" and "5" key since they will be the only keys which I will need the "Alt Gr" key function to get the "£" and "€" sign everything else on the US international keyboard will work just fine.

I believe you'd have to buy a separate keyboard, however keep this in mind:

An ebay seller who was offering various keyboards mentioned that backlight keys will no longer work with the switch. You might have to order directly from AW/Dell and avoid buying a UK keyboard somewhere else if you want to keep the keys backlit if you were ever to switch it.

I have a US keyboard on my Asus and I'm French, so I fully understand your reason to get a UK keyboard because it's a pain.

Wow yes in French I can see that being an issue!

If I set the language to US International and get some transparent stickers for the "4" and "5" keys I should get away with it. Backlit keys and the good old £ and € sign restored.

The proper one on ebay is £35 for a backlit. Prob not worth it IMO.

Agreed - That's way too expensive for a measly keyboard. You'd be better off buying a 500GB HD and upgrading the M11 for that price :p

    US = 599$ R1 ...Canada = 999$ R1

I'm also buying US ...gotta love mail holding/forwarding facilities ;)

    And family members :D

The difference is even bigger due to a rather epic sale they seem to be having at the moment.

Does the power supply cable come in two parts?

I bought my R2 in the US and let it ship to my Hotel when I was visiting NY.
Saved me a LOT of money!

Yes, the cable connects to a 3 prong connector.
