Just got a brand new M11x and threw some G.Skill DDR3 10666 and I am only getting a 4.8 windows index rating which does not seem correct anyone have any idea?

If you're talking about just the memory score, then yeah that's rather low. My Samsung 1066 rates a 5.9.

Yeah its the memory score. I am going to assume they did not default to the correct settings/timings or whatever. Can anyone help me with verifying and fixing this in the BIOS? I think the timings are supposed to be 9-9-9-24

Step 1. Run a decent memory benchmark.
Step 2. Compare the benchmark score with others.

Hint: WEI is not a decent memory benchmark.

It might not be a good one but I am pretty sure thats a clear indication that DDR3 8GB is not running at the correct timings. I get 6-7ish with with only 4GB of DDR2 RAM in some of my other machines.

Speccy is showing the RAM @ 8.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 398MHz (6-6-6-15)..... When I go into the BIOS of the M11x I see no options to change any RAM settings/timings ?

CPU-Z will show you the timings.

EDIT: and 6-6-6-15 is as good as you're going to get. Remember that these Core iXUMs are locking the memory clock to 800MHz.

    Does this seem right?

CPU-Z is showing it as running @ 399MHz isn't this RAM supposed to be 667MHz?

    Specs of RAM are DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 9-9-9-24

Technically, DDR3 800 means 400MHz (DDR3 1066 means 533MHz, DDR3 1333 means 667MHz etc.). Divide the number by two and that is the speed in MHz it runs at. It can get confusing because some people will refer to DDR3 800 as 800MHz etc.

Remember no matter what ram you have in there it's going to run at DDR3 800 aka 400MHz, unless you overclock the CPU, then it'll be at max around 500MHz, depending on what you set the FSB to.

I wouldn't worry about the Index thing. I find the best benchmark are the games itself not some test that just shows you numbers.
