    599$ M11X Warranty Question

    I was considering purchasing this laptop but here's my dilemma:

    I live in Canada and the 599$ M11X is only available in the US. I asked a Dell rep through the chat service: "if I get a US friend to ship it to me, is that okay?", the rep claimed it would void my warranty.

    If my friend posted it on a site such as ebay and then I purchased it (which would give me a paypal receipt), do you think my warranty would be valid in Canada? I'm trying to make this work ...lol. Dell obviously wouldn't answer this question.

    Thoughts? I will not pay 949$ for the cheapest version in Canada :p

    Laptop in my sig is constantly broken and RMA'd, so I need a secondary laptop and the M11X fits my every needs ...especially since it's extremely portable.

    I should of went with Alienware to begin with because of the amazing warranty service but oh well, now I know and won't be shopping Asus ever again.

    It's 3am here, so hopefully I will make some sence.

    I believe the warranty is only valid in the US. If you take it to Canada, the warranty doesn't extend to that country.

    The longest and most complicated way around it would just be for Alienware to deliver your laptop to your friend. If I'm correct they will only deliver to the registered address your card/bank does, so he may need to pay for it being the fact he can receive your laptop. He ships it to you. Laptop will hopefully be fine for a very good time and it won't go through any disasters.

    If it does though, ship it back to your friend, he claims, warranty valid, laptop fix, back to you.

    Or, pay $300 ish pounds extra and go without the hassle.

    As said I'm sleepy and I believe I'm correct, but who knows :p

    the 1 year warranty is world wide

    You will have to transfer the warranty when you "purchase" it from your friend online(IIRC).

    The Dell rep lied.

    Alienware warranties are valid worldwide. You'll just have to transfer the warranty from your friend to you, which takes a couple of minutes on the phone with an alienware rep (not a Dell rep).
