it will be downclocked to 800 mhz cause the i-cores run all with 800 Mhz...not more....you can find this also in the new M11x-R2 Manual on the dell-site

I assume it will be downclocked to 800Mhz, but maybe with the i7 overclocking feature the ram can be OC'd too. Seeing as if you overclock an i7 processor the system's memory overclocks too.

Well, I'm in a dilemma. I routinely use Photoshop and Illustrator where every bit of RAM helps. I also game heavily. So I can't decide whether to get 8GB of CL7 or 4GB of CL5. Ideally I'd do 8GB of CL5 but you know... Kingston doesn't make those yet.

I rather wonder, if there is no setting in the bios when you start putting in CL5 RAM, do you actually see that benefit?

Yea i would think we would need to have the ability to adjust the mem timings to be sure. Everest will show us if it does auto set it to cl5 however in my experience i have always had to adjust the timings myself.

I would think a "gaming" anything should allow the user to adjust mem timings etc... Does R1 let you do this?

The RAM runs at 800 regardless of whether you install 1066 or 1333...
