I would like to access the keyboard lighting from VB 2010, hopefully with some sort of .net type of API. Does anyone have an idea of where to look?

I'm hoping for a quick and dirty to toggle keyboard lighting off and on.

Right, except the whole point is to not use the alien fx software, since I am dimming screen, reducing gamma, and eliminating keyboard to temporarily maximize battery (since I'm reading in a dark room for instance). I have a progam adjusting contrast/brightness already, but would like to add the keyboard on/off as well.

But using alienware fx defeats the whole purpose of maximizing battery.

I might be pointing out the obvious here but fn + Alien FX (Print Screen) on the keyboard will kill AlienFX instantly.

My other favorite is to setup a new power management profile where you select to turn off AlienFX in the advanced power management settings in Windows (Not Alien commander center) This way you can set your brightness etc and everything else to just how you want it when you want to go into reading mode, in fact just call the preset "reading mode" :D
