    can i add a second different brand gtx 980 to my alienware area r2
    I don't know what brand is in my machine or if dell do something to the cards bios to force you to buy them from dell?
    also if I can can you recommend a good one to use along side in sli?​

    I'm assuming it wouldn't work if you use 2 different brands. I have a reference GTX 970 that Dell put into my Alienware 51 R2. Don't know which brand it is though.. can anyone else shed any light?

    Generic brand from Nvidia. Nothing special.
    There shouldn't be anything wrong with putting in a different brand GTX 970 / GTX 980. Just make sure they aren't factory overclocked.
