Click the cute cow for the hacked Latest 64 bit driver
Enjoy ^_^
Be aware that this Driver is in-fact for the Nvidia GTX 860 M 2g GDDR5 notebook gpu. the EXACT same graphics hardware inside the Alpha Why Nvidia and AW seem to be hiding this I couldn't say.. maybe it's because they disabled a full gig of GDDR5 in this "revision" of the hardware... in any case this driver works flawlessly Mooooory Christmas!~
As new drivers are released I will continue to update the hack :3
by the way sorry about the website I used, Could not find anything better that let me upload such a large file >.< if you know a better one please suggest it ^^

Thanks for the mod. I use Google Drive for sharing files like this. If you have a Gmail account you should have enough space for it. Or, MSN, Hotmail, Outlook also gives you a decent amount of free storage space.
As far as why they are not calling it what it really is, I think the answer should be obvious... 860M is not cutting edge and it was never an enthusiast product even when it was new. It will be 2015 in a few days. In a 970M/980M world, selling a mini-desktop with such a modest mobile GPU that is obsolete probably wouldn't go well. It's probably even safe to say that most of the uneducated wannabe enthusiast consumers recognize that NVIDIA 800M series is not the latest and greatest. -
The 860M was like the 750/750ti was a Maxwell "demonstration product"... Never was meant to me more then that.. Looks like AW is really going down the drain with this and BGA junk.. I'm probably going to keep this AW and upgrade the hell out of it till I can and then will move to Clevo..

why it give me nvidia installer failed????!!!
is it because i ve upgraded my ram??Mr. Fox likes this. -
Nope, it's because Alienware has a proprietary GPU in the Alpha than only they will support with driver updates. The installer fails because the hardware ID is not present in the NVIDIA reference driver INF.
Try this driver mod: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...d-for-alienware-and-clevo-mobile-gpus.772018/
If it does not work, get your GPU hardware ID from Device Manager and I'll tweak it for you. -

Good catch @Game7a1 - I have to remind myself that some people (Alpha by default) only have the Windows 8.X.X cancer OS. If DSE is not disabled prior to installation any driver mod is guaranteed to fail.
The Alpha is a rare example of where the tiled abortion from Redmond and Steam Big Picture mode makes better sense. If you're sitting 15 feet away from a TV screen, Windows 7 is not a good experience. -
i have tryed to install the driver but my screen flashes then turn black,no picture came back,,is the driver not working in my alpha pc, (for now Ive returned to the original driver by alienware) please refer me to solution

Is there a specific reason you are attempting to install newer drivers, or only doing it because newer drivers are floating around? I only ask this because driver modding is not that difficult, but it is not something for the casual living room TV gamer. If your Alpha works correctly and you have no issues to resolve, you are better off leaving well enough alone.
What you are experiencing is normal. You have to use the proper INF mod, and with Windows 8 you must boot with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled. @Game7a1 has already given you a link explaining how to do the latter. I asked for the hardware ID. If this is a challenge, (and for many gamers this level of technical involvement is a challenge,) and the machine works to your satisfaction, my advice would be do not update your video drivers.
If you actually need to update to fix an issue, we're here to help. -
@Mr. Fox, the old driver doesn't work with some of the newer games (like Dragon Age: Inquisition).
The only official way to update the driver was through the Alpha UI, but some users disabled it because of preference or because of a different OS (like Win10; there is a way to do implement the UI in Win7, but I forgot the source of how to), among other reasons (like being unable to go to desktop mode at boot, which is possible from what I hear at AWA).
Alienware also had, for a short time, put an unofficial beta driver on reddit, but the link to such driver is dead (and I made the error of deleting my copy in case something like that happened).Mr. Fox likes this. -
(Ive tryed with disable driver signature) can you give an article how to make a modified driver i will try to make one,if i cant i will give you my hardware id and let you make it bro???!!

is there a deatailed tutorial i understand some of the steps but i dont understand the whole idea?
sorry I know that im annoying!TomJGX likes this. -
You're not annoying. That's all I have. It is extremely detailed, but assumes at least some familiarity with the files and their content. If you look carefully, I bet you can figure it out. It's not hard at all. Using NotePad it only takes about 3 minutes once you know the hardware ID and do it once. When you don't need to care about your driver mod supporting more than one machine configuration, it's extremely simple. You can just replace one GPU hardware ID (4 characters) with your own hardware ID and change the name under [Strings] if it's a GPU with a different name.
There might be an A-B-C step-by-step tutorial with screen shots and what not, but I don't know of one. -
one more question can i use this steps with latest update 347.25??!
Mr. Fox likes this. -
Sure. There is no reason you cannot. I suspect you're not overclocking the Alpha GPU, so it should work fine.

thanks to your helps gentlemen i have been to update to the latest version which 347.52!!!

Please help me ASAP, so I downloaded this, it gave me the update failed thing so I disabled signatures, and it installed, but now it is just a black screen and I can do nothing at all, when I restarted my alpha it was still a black screen, I pressed some buttons on my keyboard and could hear steam big picture load up, but still, black screen. Please please please help me, I have no clue what to do about this! I'm currently using my mobile to write this and I just have no clue what to do. Please help me
Thank you -NepetA
