So my Mum was cleaning my room and she accidentally removed the power cable from my Area 51 R2. I realised this until I came back from work.

Will anything have damaged my Area 51 R2? It's working but the sounds of the fans seem different to me and I can hear a whirring sound if I listen to it closely. My PCI fan usually runs at 768rpm and now they're running at 800 rpm.

Can any damage happen to the motherboard or any other components for that matter?

Because this is a very expensive machine I don't want anything wrong to happen to it.

    Thanks

Yes bad stuff can happen. But to be honest I wouldn't worry to much, systems are designed now to with stand the odd power outage.

If you had a power cut in your area and your PC had a meltdown that really wouldn't be viable now would it?
As as your PC wasn't doing anything to hard then I think it should be fine.

Also 32rpm on a fan is nothing. You might of just had a slightly warmer room today.

Thanks gschneider. That made me feel a lot better :)

Is there a test I can do just to make sure everything is running okay? like testing the power supply and the power output/input to my system?

You can use a voltage meter...

If you can run 3dmark11 all the way through and Aida64 stress test for 15mins then you should be fine.

Generally your going to have more issues with data loss if your machine was in the middle of transferring files, opening databases, exchange information store etc. For the most part it doesn't cause a hardware issue, raid 0 cant have issues with data integrity and things of that nature...
