I wanna buy an alienware area 51 from. Hid evolution because xotic PC's don't have them does it support the new Intel 750 PCIe ssd 9r does that need a different port?
I wanna put 3 nvidia titan x gpus in SLI mode in there

Well, the Area 51 doesn't support TITAN X in SLI, though one person did get two of them set-up.
A BIOS updated is needed for them to be supported.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I have an Area 51-R2 with a 5820k running 4.5Ghz in 45/45/45/45/45/45. So I dunno whats wrong with overclocking? I get no thermal, current or power limit throttling of any kinda at all. Max temp I get is 69c. I can get more out of it but this does me on a day to day basis.
The Bios is actually almost indentical to MSI's bios (being an MSI motherboard I am not suprised)
I have 2x 980's in SLI both overclocked again. 1400 core / 7250mem
Ram I have some cruical ballistic running at 2400mhz 4x4Gb (not overclocked as the gains to con's ratio is to small)
The only isses I have noticed so far are:
1. In Bios you can't set core voltage at all it simply will not post. Work around for now is using voltage offset in + mode and adding 270mv. averages me out just under 1.3 volts.
2. In Bios you must set level 2 overclock then edit the offset value and multipliers or it wont increase the current, also you can't edit the current at all, but if you set Level 2 overclock in bios first it well set current to 1023a (as reported in XTU)
3. Whatever you set in XTU will be completly forgotten once you restart. It will revert to whatever the BIOS is currently set to.- I recommend you set level 2 overclock in bios. Then use XTU to find you best settings then translate them into bios and test again.
4. Alienwares overclocking tool in AWCC is completely useless in fact to be honest its worse than useless they should just remove it and let XTU do the work. Just set it to off and forget it exists
As for 3 Titan X's? Why whats wrong with 3x 980ti's or for that matter 2x 980ti's? Each to their own though, if it floats your boat
Alienware 15 Laptop.
I had mine running: 37/36/35/35 with a -60mv dynamic and 312a current both wattages set to 58/59. Rock solid stable and also again no thermal, current or power limit throttling. Again I can get a little more but this works day to day and the system is happy. I do have the system on a fan less cooling tray for a little more ventilation temps are 62c at Idle but its been that way even before I overclocked it. However when I use for benching I use HWinfo to set my fans to max.
Any questions feel free to ask.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Hey Papusan,
How strange the settings issues they are having. Some of the issues I haven't yet encountered. I can set some stuff in my bios you just have to work around some of it. Not the end of the world though. I do have the 1500w PSU in mine maybe that helps a bit with power.
Titan X I am not fussed about the 980TI makes much more sense to me, 3 way SLI is pointless due to its scaling issues. To be honest I actually don't like SLI full stop I prefer single card solutions that I can get maximum potential out of 100% of the time. SLI still doesn't delivery 100% scaling even in 2 way 100% of the time.
SATA 6 issues? Crystal Disk has no issues on my MX200 559/509. Maybe I just got lucky with bits?
My Memory is 2400mhz and I don't really like over clocking memory as it doesn't net me much real world performance that I can feel. I did review higher clocked memory but again the benefit to price was so small I didn't feel it netted me a point.
I can't really complain to much I got my system for a lot less than I could build one myself for, or get Scan or PC-specialist to build me one for with equal spec's. Yes I know its not a benchmark god but I bought mine as I liked the looks of the case, the price was cheaper, I want to game on it more than benchmark it. I like to bench and test new things but once I found the top that's it, done, so what else can I do?
I think what people need to realise is the perspective on what the machine really is, its designed by a large company using its own components to try and maximise its profit margin while also offer the best price to performance ratio that it can. If you really want a benchmarking god machine you really should of bought a components based system and built it yourself or got a company to do it. That way you would of got yourself the very best of each component. I do apologise if that seems rude but I get really board of people moaning when there is alternatives out there that they could of picked. Especially when returning a system is so easy.
I do see other peoples points of view and I really understand the buzz people can get from bench marking a beast though. Please don't take my as rudeness. I just like to ensure what I buy nets what I consider a good value to price ratio. I expect things to perform to 100% of its intend spec. Overclocking is just a bonusPapusan likes this. -

@Mr. Fox
Here are my current settings in XTU on my Alienware 18, system is super stable and temps are averaging 60C and 85-90C under full load but sometimes if I reboot, the multipliers go back to the stock 40,39,38,38......
and other times, the multipliers remain to what I set them 41,41,41,41 but the Core current drops from the 130 I set back to the default 95
Sames with the reference clock, it sometimes drops from 100.3 back to the default 100.......settings sometimes stick and sometimes now......
what's going on dude

I think Mr Fox might be better to asnwer this one for you as he has an AW18, I got rid of my AW18 butI do remember that it never forgot my settings. My AW15 on the other hand will forget the settings if it goes to sleep, however it does remember them if I shut down or restart.
Does the Alienware Area 51 support Intel 750 ssd
