Due to a tiny LCD crack, my m9750 has been stationary for a number of years: even so, it's enjoyed a happy second life as a desktop and has always worked quite well for Web browsing and such.
Lately, though, some things have happened...
- I heard the fans working very loudly one day while I wasn't using the computer, but I didn't think much of it.
- The next time I went to use it, the computer would power up (Windows startup sound, blind keyboard entry of my Windows password, etc.) but the screen was totally black (i.e. OFF - no backlight, no picture, nothing).
- I removed my single graphics card. The computer booted successfully again, but instead of the screen being off, it was on... with a massive crack, lots of lines, and a giant black spot. Even without the graphics card in, the monitor was still clearly getting data - you could see the lines change a bit as I blindly navigated Windows.
- I figured, ok, that's fine, I have spare monitors. I'll just hook up a VGA cable. I don't need this thing portable, anyway. However, the m9750 doesn't seem to be outputting to the monitor.
- I tried the oven trick on the graphics card, but it's still not outputting to my monitor: with or without my (likely broken) graphics card inserted.
So what are my options? I don't want to spend $$$ here when I have a perfectly working computer and a perfectly working monitor but apparently no way to connect the two.
Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks!

You wouldnt get any display at all with no graphics cards in - I presume you have pulled the slave card to get some display. There may be a fault with the primary graphics card - it is labelled "Daughter" card.

You should try resetting the bios, not much else you can do with out spending money.
Small chance it will work, but its worth a shot. Unplug the CMOS battery, and system battery, disconnect power, wait 10 mins, and press the power button a few times, with out any power.
