    hi,
I have the r1 9750 and have had the dreaded graphics corruption on start up, then display blsod. If the machine was really cold it booted and then as soon as i would play a video it would crash. After doing a bit of searching i realised that the gfx card might be dead. What i have found is that it seems to be "ok" with pclinuxos installed. Of course i didnt update the graphics drivers and just installed as is. I can use the internets and watch any video and stuff. Of course its not ideal but seems ok for the time being. I hope that helps anyone with a similar problem. pclinuxos is quick to install and it was blind luck that it works but must use some other basic parts of the video card that dont cause problems like windows does. Of course i need to get back to normal, and was hoping some here may be able to point me in the right direction with a new card and possible directions of how to get the video card out. I have removed the rear covers and all the screws i could see, removed the memory and drives and basic stuff. I looked at the gfx card and cpu, but realised that i may need thermal paste and really some good help. If it comes down to a new card i wondered if it would be possible for some one who had pics of how to do it (is it just removing all the screws and pulling out of socket?). Also whethyer it is possible to change it to a single 3870 or another card. I really appreciate any help

    popa :)

Does the m9700 have something in the way of the HE tab? Those prices are kind of high.

FYI the HE tab is an extra pin on these graphics cards that isn't necessary, in fact it gets in the way sometimes.

Here are some other cards you can consider:
    nVidia G84 256M MXM-III(HE) Video Card G84-710-A2 | eBay
    (Like 8700m GT)
    Nvidia GO 7900 256MB DDR3 MXM-III(HE) GF-GO7900-GTXN-A2 | eBay
    Nvidia GO 7950 512MB DDR3 MXM-III(HE) GF-GO7950-GTXHN-A | eBay

THIS is the very best performance, like 9800m GT:
    HP 468592-001 NVIDIA QUADRO FX 3600M 512MB PCI-E MXM | eBay

Well, presumably you'll have to remount the heatsink.
