    Where can I find the M17x-R1 manual? The AW site doesn't seem to have one.I bought a M17x-r1 that is missing a few parts and I need to know what is missing and the proper installation for those missing parts and to make sure I buy the correct parts...thanks

    Only thing is mine is a older model. It is a different case. I'm not sure things are the same inside.

    It may be a area 51 m17x, and again nothing in the AW site.

    Apparently you cannot get a service manual for it as Dell does not make it readily available to the consumer, but there is this knowledge base which has instructions on removing the keyboard, master video card, so forth and so on I hope it helps Try searching for a teardown video on youtube, also.

    Disregard... after a more careful reading of this thread and that it has been moved... you do not have a M17x-R1
    but rather an Area51 m17x

    Which adds to the confusion because if you read the S/N tag on an Area51 M17x it reads M17X-R1!!!!!

    I bought this computer with missing parts(and no S/N tag) and have been trying to come up with parts to get this thing together. But I'm not sure what all is missing. I cant find a manual or a lot of information on this lappy.There also aren't a lot of parts on ebay or the net.I think this may be a area 51 M17x R1 witch is alot different than the new type m17-R1.

    Picardsm If possible I would like to see your M17x R1 manual
    I believe my CPU fan is going out and I need to know the part number and try to find out exactly how to install it.
