Since shadedurza is no longer updating his m15x software and links thread, I'm taking over for him, making sure that all of the links provided are working and all of the content on this thread are up-to-date.

Important Note: These drivers are no longer being updated. However, with the exception of bundled software, most of these drivers are still being hosted for those who don't have access to Alienware's MyHive. These drivers still work and are still stable so if all else fails in finding updated drivers, you can still use the ones listed below.

the light pipe patch exists because way back when the m15x came out, some systems shipped with a CC that didn't have the light pipe activated/working. the patch fixed this.

temps were fixed by X36... only "issue" of X36 are the fans constantly running.

I'll be posting that shortly. Sorry, I've been busy lately and there have been a lot of things on my mind. I totally forgot about the driver installation order, but I'll be putting that on soon-- that is, once I get everything settled (I just moved to a different house so everything is a bit chaotic in terms of getting stuff organized.)

To my knowledge, the X36 BIOS still causes the ACPI sensors to report the wrong temperatures. Installing the ThermoFan Update should enable you to see the right temperatures (that is, only in ThermoFan.) Other temperature monitoring programs will still show you the wrong ACPI temperatures under the X36 BIOS, so technically, the X36 BIOS has not been fixed in that respect.

As for the fans constantly running, I wouldn't really consider that an issue. I'd say it just runs a lot more often (and at higher speeds than previous fan speed profiles), but it does from time to time slow down and runs quietly. Other than that, if you really need your notebook to run quietly at any given time, you could always switch to stealth mode to dim down the fans.

Hi I just owned m15x 2 months ago & i cant still it when rendering, idont know if the problem was in the cpu or gpu.

Here's what i observed: everytime the cpu reach to 100% for 5-10 min. & the gpu temp is higher than 65 then the system restarts automatically.

I allready contacted the technical support using remote access, they only used stress prime, 3dmark06 & temp monitor, but they only run the stress prime coz downloading the 3dmark06 will take time, so i run it by my self, the 1st & 2nd attemp was failure so i let to cooldown my machine & run again this time it didn't restart. I sent all the results & capture images of the test to AW last week but no reply yet.

I search thru this problem & i came up to this thread. I downloaded the bios updates, and asked the AW technical support again regarding the issue & they reply to "update my system to x34 to fix the problem & if the problem occurs again flash it with x36". But when i checked my bios its allready X36.

Downgrade to x34 will solve this issue?

    Sorry for asking such questions.

    Sincerely.

    Nice Thread !!

I wanted to instal the new CC the other day so I dloaded the new webcam driver, touchpad driver, .NET 3.5 and the CC. Everything instaled fine excepth the webcam driver. Its around 200kb and when I open it and click on Setup, it just exits in a couple of seconds. I installed CC anyway and everything works fine except AlienSense. When I click on it al I see is the CC logo which I assume is because the webcam driver did not install/update. Is there a fix for this ? I feel the file I dloaded might be corrupt its a 196 kb file labelled webcam _FA_x32.

Another question. After installing .NET 3.5, at the login screen I now need to click on my pic/username before typing the password even though its the only one. Can this be disabled so that like before when I turn on my comp, my username is already selected and prompting me to type in the password ?

Perhaps. I have doubts that it will solve that issue, but it's worth a shot to try. :)

The webcam driver update is fine. I've double checked it and it's supposed to be only 196kb.

Mortis, please do the following. You may skip parts #1, #2, and #3 if you have already done them. Make sure that the webcam driver update is installed after you have installed the newer version of the Alienware Command Center and not before that.

#1. Uninstall the old version of Alienware Command Center.
    #2. Install .NET Framework 3.5.
#3. Install the new version of the Command Center.
#4. Install the Webcam Driver Update.
#5. Locate FAAWElevator.dll in your AlienSense folder (C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\AlienSense\FAAWElevator.dll) and copy it to your Command Center folder (C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center). The FAAWElevator.dll file should now be both in the AlienSense and Alienware folder.
    #6. Restart.
#7. You should be able to configure AlienSense now.

    - Credits to findvikas for the solution.

It takes a few logins for it to entirely learn and recognize your face. To make the process faster, I'd say you lock + login a few times (using the window key + L) until it's able to log in using your face.

Edit: And yes, I did copy and paste this from another thread. I didn't feel like typing the whole thing over again so I copied and pasted from another thread. See: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=344133

if that's the case, could be a motherboard issue.

Yesterday i spoke with one of the technical support & tell them the problem
that i have in my M15x. Its very frustrating! He asked me to return my AW to the depot to fix the problem. I know it will take a month before they will return my AW & since im in Dubai i need to pay the shipment. Sorry im just expressing my frustration.

wish me luck that they will fix it appropriately.

    OCEANUS :

Tried what you suggested but no cigar. Nothing shows up under AlienSense and the webcam driver still doesnt install. When I run it and click on Setup, it just exits and thats it. And now whenever I bot up , it says FAEnrollWiz stoped working or something like that. And now when I select ALienFX, I get the folowing mesage :

{{{Alienware AlienFX has determined that the Alienware AlienFX Controller is not running. You can still use Alienware AlienFX Editor to edit, preview, and save changes to themes, but changes to your system’s lighting will not take effect until the Alienware AlienFX Controller is running.

If you click NO, you may start the Alienware AlienFX Controller at any time by clicking Start | All Programs | Alienware AlienFX | Alienware AlienFX Controller.

    Would you like to start the Alienware AlienFX Controller now? }}}}

After I click yes, everything is fine but it seems the file changes I made prevent AlienFX from starting on bootup. Its probably related to the FAEnrollWiz error I mentioned earlier.
    Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know what I can do about the login screen changes due to .NET 3.5

Hmm. You can always download the the older version of 1028, SP1, of the Command Center. The revision isn't too different from the version before that but it's worth a shot.

Download Command Center 1028 SP1 here.

Should you experience any issues with that version (other than the issue you're experiencing now), please refer to this thread.

I'll be doing some maintenance work on my server today so some of the links provided here may not work for some time. The maintenance will take place starting on Thursday, January 29th at 7:00PM PST and will not be finished approximately until 9:00PM PST.

If you need a specific driver, please feel free to contact me via PM, AIM or MSN and I will get whatever you need back up ASAP.

    Thanks.

Hmm, I think what I really meant to say was that I built myself a time machine and went back to the 26th to do some maintenance on the server! (Thanks for pointing that out Anti. :p It's fixed now.)

Edit: Maintenance is finished. If you guys find any broken links, please let me know!
