    hey everyone, i have a m17x R1 and wanted to upgrade it to 8gb of ram, When i bought the thing i remember seeing an option for 8gb or ram but everywhere i look it says its only capable for 4... so whats the deal can a guy put another 4 in or not?? thanks guys and gals

    I know that sometimes, it can take more ram thath what intel says, but it will run in single channel instead of dual channel ( in my case, intel say 8gb, but I can use 32gb), you should try to contact them

    I upgraded my Area 51 M17X to 8gb of RAM, but it has to be a 64bit operating system. I had to do a full install of Win7 64bit. When I bought mine I messed up and got Vista 32bit system, that's why I upgraded to windows 7.

    any ideas on where to get 2 4gb sticks for them?? everywhere i look i can only seem to find 2 2gb sticks..

    Newegg had the ones I needed. check your pin count and DDR type

    can't find my original packing slip for the 4gb cards. I still have the 2gb cards if anyone is interested...
