    alienware m15x video card help

    i have a m15x before dell. i reformmated my laptop and then downloaded their drivers off their website, but their driver for the video card didn't work. so i went to nvidias website and it detected it and downloaded the driver for geforce 8700m gt. i restarted the laptop but video card isnt being used. if i open nvidia control panel, it says "you are not currently using a display attached to an nvidia gpu." i'm guessing the laptop isnt detecting the video card, how can this be fixed?

    If that doesnt work you might need to ensure u dont use a more recent driver than a 186.xx.

    I have the same laptop and can never get newer drivers to detect the GPU
