    Hello everyone,

I have a small computer business here and today someone brought in an Alienware Area-51 m17x laptop. It's the pre-Dell ownership area laptop. Anyway the DVD-burner is missing the front faceplate/bezel and the DVD drive also doesn't read discs anymore. Cleaning it hasn't helped so it needs to be replaced.

I have tried every outlet I can think of to find a replacement drive but it's as if none exist. I even tried eBay in search of a drive, but couldn't find one. This customer wants this done before Christmas so I'm definitely in a time crunch.

When I pulled out the drive there was no sticker or label on it at all so there was no way for me to get a part number. I do know from inside Windows that this drive is an Optiarc AD75-90A tray loading drive.

Does anyone here know what the correct part number is and where I can get a replacement drive? Even a used one is OK for this customer. They just would like to have it going by Christmas.

    Thanks!!

Ebay or Ztronics are your best bet. For what it's worth thought, when I upgraded the drive on my Alienware m5750 it was just a regular o'l laptop optical drive with a fancy alienware faceplate. The faceplate slapped right onto the new drive I put in.

Those 2 or parts-people.com are the most commonly used sites.
