So I have had my m17x since about 2008. It hasn't given me any trouble until recently. I was trying to do a factory restore and in the process I managed to knock it off the table and crack the casing. I decided its time for a tear down and a few upgrades. I've managed to get it torn down as far as in the picture below but I can't seem to figure out how to get the palm rest/touch pad cover off. Anyone know how to get it torn down further than this? Also in the process of looking for parts I noticed that most websites picture for the m17x R1 doesn't match the way my m17x looks. However the bottom of mine defiantly says m17x R1. Does this mean I could switch the casing to a later build R1 than mine? Does anyone know where I can get a new palm rest/touch pad cover? I have found Ztronics has a lot of parts but does not show that cover in particular. Looks like I need a new palm rest cover/ and lower panel and side trims panels. If the parts are interchangeable it might be worth it to take all my hardware out and put it in a later model case. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
