Needed M17 Master and Slave Video Bios

Hello all, I am in dire need of the M88 ATI 3870's Master and Slave Bios I have both my cards but my Master is dead and dont want to waste a good 350bucks on a another card. I would like to try to flash my slave into a master but need the bios's to do this any one that can help would be saving my life as all my stuff is on this laptop even my "MYSQL" database.

I don't own the first model M17, but didn't that also come with hybrid graphics?

If that's the case, for your data, you can boot it up in the integrated graphics to salvage your stuff.

 

The first model has no intergrated graphics card only had dual ATI's, I have tried the external vga port to my monitor no go black screen on both ends, without a master im screwed and seeing how its setup as raid i cant just take out one drive and pull the data off it. I also cant find a card for this on ebay that supports crossfire. And don't want to by a card off of ebay that the heatsinks might not fit on. I have a friend that has a ATI x1600 MXM type 2 card just not sure if it would work or fry the mainboard and rather I not fry it.

Could be wrong but I have the M17R1 and I seem to remember the master card having an additional connector on the MXM fingers, I believe it's for display output. The chips look like they'd match up for the heatsink fine but I doubt you'll get any display output.

To get your stuff off your laptop you can purchase an inexpensive USB/SATA external enclosure, $20 can get one to your door.

Check that out, they also have several actual drive enclosures on the same website on the cheap that will let you use your laptop's drive as an external USB-powered device.

 

Oh and the R1 does not come with integrated graphics of any kind.

 

Nope they have the same tabs only a mxm type 2 nvidia card has the extra tab and maybe the ATI 4850's, but I have not seen them cards at all.

As for the newegg option not going to work as the drives are setup as a raid need both of them, so unless i can find me a usb/esata that supports raid 0/1then that would be great.

I will try the x1600 and see what happens I hope if it does work i can then get me a master bios and just flash the slave 3870 to a master and then later on find me a cheap 3870 on ebay some day or if someone is nice enough send me the one they have laying around doing nothing for free, but in this world nothing is free lol.

 

Ah, yeah...hmm. RAID complicates things. Raid 0 or Raid 1? If it's Raid 1 you (should be able to) take a drive out and it'll work fine by itself. If you used stripe in a production machine well..hm...guess you're SOL =|

I dont think the X1600 will cause any issues, as long as you can keep it cooled long enough to get what you need off the machine. I'm not sure, but if I remember the MXM revisions were just increasing the size of the actual card, and the power supplied to it, so if it fits in the slot, give it a go.

it won't work only the 3870 and 4850 work in this laptop

also there are people who can provide the needed bios they only need to manifest them selfs here

I have both the master and slave vBios sitting on my M17 at home, but I have no way of uploading them anywhere.
