    Hi,

My GeForce 7950GTX failed some time ago and I baked it in the oven to give him more time. It was a success and I didn't have any issues for months. I've recently decided to upgrade with ATI 3870 when I notice this white stripe on the left of my screen. I thought it was a problem with my card but made a simple "Print Screen" test. So on the print screen I can see my whole desktop, without that stripe.

    1. Does it confirm that my display is dying ?
    2. I don't have an external monitor but is there any other way to confirm that ?
    3. Does it mean that it's gonna die in a few days or can it stay like this for another year or so ?

I'm asking because it's really not a big deal but if I do decide to upgrade and start playing games I'm worried it's gonna kill my screen.

    Thanks

I would say the screen is at fault here. There is no replacement for the external monitor. It is the best method to check a faulty GPU. The other method is to swap the LCD in your laptop with a known working one.

Plug it into an external display. You can find out easily.
