Hi. I am building m17 laptop but have some problems finding Skull Cap Panel. like that:
Alienware Area-51 M9750 / M17-R1 Panel A Skull Cap - Alienware M17-R1 - Alienware - Parts by Brand
But today i saw Complete Display Assembly from previous model on ebay:
Alienware M9700 17 1" WXGA LCD Screen Display Complete Assembly Black Back | eBay
Now i am wondering since these models practically the same can i use that m9700 assembly with m17 barebone? Or am i wrong?
Appreciate any help!

Well I don't know if you solved your issue, but here: Alienware Replacement Panel A Back Cover with Alien Head Rep W840PANBLKWG A | eBay

I saw that too, but thanks anyway!
If someone interested, i also got answer for my second question.
Apparently, m9700 has slightly smaller screen so it wont be compatible with m17. But m9750 supposed to be the same size.
Nevertheless it is not my concern now. i bought whole barebone. -

I know you can use the M9700 LCD back covers, because I installed the blue one on my old M17 before I sold it. I think is is one of the sweetest cosmetic mods you can do to the M17, honestly. It originally came in only black, with the Ripley or Skull Cap.
They're cheap on eBay.
Not sure if this helps the OP, just trying to liven up this legacy section a bit.
