    Since an m9700 has an amd turion 64, could it support an amd turion 64 x2

    I'm afraid that the single core is the best CPU that motherboard can handle, sorry.

    Wait, doesn't the m9700 have the D900K motherboard? If that's the case, I'm pretty sure it could go dual core (it's the P4 based D900T that can't). I'm not sure it's the one you mentioned though.

    NO! You're thinking of the D900K variant of the M7700
    The m9700 (aka m9700a) has the Arima/Flextronics W830 motherboard.

    That blows cause I found a perfectly good dual core lying around at my computer shop

    Yea fastest you could get is a 2.4ghz Turion single core :/ Though that system was the first to have sli :)
