Hi all! I wanted to start a M17 Over-clocking and Benchmarking thread. Since I wasn't an M17 owner when it first came out and I know I'm behind the times. Figured I'd start now.

Here's my first attempt at 3DMark06 with my Quad OC'ed and my GPU's stock.

    So far my highest OC.

XMP profile works with the M17 and the Intel bios.

Another screen shot. If I had the 4850s I would be able to challenge the M17x with this system.

Nice. I've been doing 3DMark06 because I've been playing with CPU OC'ing. When it's time to OC the GPUs I will start working with Vantage.

Nice. Might have to start bribing some 4850 owners.

Here's an '06 and a Vantage with some X9100 and GPU overclocking.

I will be frequenting this thread :)

The M17 can stomp the M17x in 06....ATI cards just destroy nvidia ones in it - nevermind the better overclocking! Vantage is a whole other story though lol

    Nice scores.

Not to hijack your thread or anything but let me sneak in a question. Mandrake, is your M17 OK after coming back from sleep mode or it lags?

Sleep mode was a problem before and I'm wondering if that is still the case.

I'm doing the benchmarks with the bottom off on top of a cooler.

Normally I'm on battery when dealing with sleep mode since I close it to move around. Coming out of it is no issue but I'm not trying to game on battery.

    Me too. :(

    does the same thing :)

with my cooler on full blast my gpu's never hit past 82-86, 86 being the absolute max (like crysis or something)

    :)

Oh and I have lots of copper ramsinks all over the gpu sink

it's the way how the quad sits on the heatsink not letting proper contact on the northbridge.

mandrake you need to put cooler heatsinks on the gpu where the memory is....

No, that I have already. I'm talking about the little heatsinks on the GPU.

BTW, tighter memory timings = increased stuttering.

I'd like to contribute this to show there was some fire in the M17.

This *beats pretty much any M17x or M980NU at stock speeds*, and I only had a dual core model.
Oh...I had no stuttering though :D

Wish I could use Intel XTU. Control like that is about the only thing the M980NU lacks.

    Holy. Crap.

You actually managed to push a QX9300 to 3.7GHz? Jesus christ, that's bloody amazing. You must have got a really good chip...perhaps the ones Intel themselves hit 3.7GHz with :p

Can you actually stress it at that however without it overheating and/or crashing?
