    M17 - too much noise coming from fan !!!! help

    my M17 is making toooooo much noise - coming from the fan on the left side ,,,, if i strike the area on the left side of the keyboard it goes away ( or becomes less ) ,,, but again comes back ,,,,, the system is working fine, but still that much amount of noise is scaring the hell outta me!!!!!!!!

    Plz Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Also I would strongly recommend against 'striking' your computer...no matter how much Alienware frustrates you.

    Have perhaps tried taking the bottom of the laptop to see if anything is obstructing the fan? On the left side this would be the fan for the CPU.

    Is the noise a rattling sound or turbulent?

    Rattling suggests something loose as granyte commented or something stuck in the fan blades.

    Turbulence would suggest way too much dust build-up between the fan and the heat-sinks. Turbulence sounds like muffled wind blowing.

    madrabbit , its more of a rattling noise but i have tried taking the cover off and took a look at the fan , but i did not see anything obstructing of any sort but as i'm nt a proffesional , i may be wrong , i'll have to take it to a trained tech guy i guess... btw thanks for replying and sorry fr replying after a month .......
