CAUTION: Improperly updating or flashing the BIOS CMOS chip on a motherboard can damage it to the point of rendering it useless. Accordingly, you should perform this BIOS update only with the assistance of an Alienware technical support agent. Performing this BIOS update without such assistance will void your system's warranty.

I'll suppose I'll contribute. Consider this a mini-MyHive. I excluded uploading the stock drivers for the Touch Pad, the Integrated Graphics, the NVIDIA Graphics Drivers, the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Utilities (RAID Utility), and the Chipset drivers because you can find them all in whizzo's or findvika's post. These are all direct links to the files so you can download them directly from my server.

    haha sorry but that's funny.

ahem. command center: no point, it's so closely connected to the AW-specific features (touch control buttons, stealth mode, alienfx, binaryGFX, etc). ditto for alienfx, simply because you haven't got the LED lights.

Ah.... sorry buddy.. but you need to have an Alienware to use them :), time for a change? Ok something serious.. I am trying to use AlienSense or just the webcam drivers to support any webcam and any hardware. I need AlienSense on my work machine then my m15x, we all love to play pranks if anybody leave his/her system unlocked :p

actually, findvikas, if you open the new CC, and then click on "Sense", and then "extended", you can configure AlienSense to use a different webcam (than the standard, integrated one). now go play pranks ;)

I meant to install this on different hardware, if you directly install Webcam driver and CC on other system it will not allow you to do so. We need to patch the installation part of it. ;)

I just was wondering because I remember a website that said that they tweaked the program to be used on a Toshiba. I really hope you don't literally think that I popped that question out senselessly.

I personally use SpeedFan because it uses very little resources. I suppose if you don't like HWMonitor, Rivatuner, or CPU-Z, you could always try out SpeedFan.

ok, ive been having a few issues with the popping noises recently, so this x26 bios should sort it out right? 2 things, its not available in my hive (uk here, suprisingly behind as usual), so does that mean i shouldnt use it? and also, i dont really need an AW rep on the phone do i?

i hope you mean x 36, you can get it from the thread called "x2 vs. x34 vx. x36", and no, you don't need to be on the phone with AW. just make sure to follow the proper guide to the letter.

Is there a program that can display my gfx and cpu temps ingame in a corner while I am playing like FRAPS does with fps? It would be more useful than having to Alt-TAB out to check every now and then.

Shadedurza, would you mind changing the X36 BIOS description to:

Fan speeds are increased and run at full blast a lot more often than X32 and X34. Audio popping issue is addressed followed by an improvement in the keyboard response rate. Adds support to 9800M GT graphics card.

I think it's more accurate that way. To say that it runs at full blast the entire time seems a bit exaggerated. I have been using the X36 BIOS ever since it has been released and the fans do dim down once in awhile to a silent level. Also, I don't know how the m15x would react to the X32 and X34 BIOS if a person who had the 9800M GT decided to downgrade their BIOS to an earlier BIOS version like the X32 or the X34.

Unfortunately i'm more of an expert in the m15x category. However I do believe someone who is good with the m17x should make an identical thread to this one for the m17x as i do not know what drivers will work on both systems or even if any of them do. :p

Shadedurza, the Synaptics driver link does have the 32-bit version of the XP drivers. It's listed under:

Can I get the latest chipset drivers from MyHive (UK)? Or do I need to go to Intel website? I'm always confused by MyHive - I never know if anything has been updated or not.

So bad that the link you gave me didn't work. I have install it but seem like M17x use ITE IR Reciever not the Winbond CIR.

I will be reorganizing my entire server sometime during the next week, so some of the files that are listed on this thread may not work for a period of time.

I will post the new links as soon as possible after the reorganization. The downtime for these links may be for up to 5-6 hours at the most, but I'll make sure to warn you guys ahead of time when they're coming down and when they're back up.
