I have an Intel Pentium M760 2.00 GHZ in my Alienware M5700... when i look at CPU-Z it says my core speed is 800.1 MHZ and the multiplier is 6.0.. when i run a prime95 to do a stress test it never moves above 800.1 MHZ.. is there something wrong? What other tests should I do? Is there a setting i should check? My computer energy saver is set to Always On which i believe lets the cpu function to its full potential but seems like it is not.

    Thanks for any help.

Processor itself has a minimal multiplier mode when idling which equals 6x. Mine I7 processor has minimal multiplier 7x which equals 7*133=931 Mhz and maximum is 13x

It will work on full power mode when you will need. Do you have Windows XP? There are tweaks in register in Windows 7 if you need I can give you a link where is smth about that.
    But it shouldn't bother you

Yeah i have Windows XP... but i noticed even when I run games like LOTRO or WOW it does not go up much from the 800.1mhz.. my computer is def. a lot slower at processing multiple things then it was say a year ago.. like if i have two firefox windows open and try to open a third it will take a bit for the third to open.. i reformatted my computer a couple months ago.. could that have done something?

You mean you formatted a hard drive and installed clean windows? It could do smth only if disk was totally scratched and somehow still installed a Windows.

Are you sure that using prime 95 it is still not higher 800? When you do a stress test task manager shows CPU working 100%? Did you change BIOS?

Just an idea, is your power mode set to Home Offce/Desk mode?, I found in other modes it prevents speedstepping propperly on occasion.
