    Hi,

Is anyone able to confirm if the Nvidia 8700m GT grahpics card is the best upgrade for the Alienware M9700i-R1
    GeForce 8700M

    Thanks

I am sure there is a better card that will fit but that does not always mean it is compatible if you read around on this forum. I know people have gotten much better cards in their 9750 but I have not seen too many attempt upgrades in the AMD bases 9700. Try searching to see what others have gotten in there.

My M9750 was able to take a 280M, or an AMD 3870M. I'm not sure about your machine.

    Hi,

This is an intel based alienware 9700. Although cpu-z lists it as a 9750.

Anyway I have an nvidia 8700 on its way.

Another question I have is how do you tell on the alienware support page which option to pick? I have yet to find the drivers page for this laptop!

Windows is showing three devices that are uninstalled: x2 - Base system device, USB 2.0 camera

I'm hoping to follow this guide but I need chipset drivers etc. Could someone please link me to the right download page for this? Or tell me which option to pick on alienwares site.

I have attached a couple of pics so there is no confusion in the model I have. Thanks for all the help so far

I use Unknown Devices to give me the names for driverless hardware. From there you just need to do some google crawling.

    Hi,

I actually got those installed. Now I just need to find the alienware OSD (on screen display) and the software/driver for the tv tuner :)

Well I linked the one above that I got. I did get a 8700m but it was the wrong type and have sent back... The 3870 should be here tomorrow. Just hope this works as I really could use it this weekend! >.<

    Hi,

Got my 3870 this morning and working great.

What are the best drivers for this? Do I get the latest from ATI site or somewhere else?
